What is ADA Compliance?

The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), created in 1990 by President George H.W. Bush, ensures people with disabilities have the same rights and opportunities as everyone else. In addition to protecting the rights of people with disabilities, the ADA also layouts standards for new construction and facility alterations. These standards are issued and monitored by the Department of Justice (DOJ) and the Department of Transportation (DOT).

Facilities, such as medical care facilities, places of lodging, housing at places of education, retail stores, restaurants, and residential dwelling units, just to name a few, are expected to adhere to certain floor and ground surface ADA standard requirements.

This means that if you run or own one of these types of facilities you must ensure that your walking surfaces, ramps, floor space, door clearances, parking spaces, loading zones, etc. are level and accessible to those with disabilities. By law, all ground surfaces must be firm, stable, and slip resistant. They can’t have any uneven surfaces, cracks, or other deformations that could make them impassable, hazardous, or not accessible to a person with disability.

Concrete Leveling & ADA Compliance

If you have concrete surfaces that are cracked, sunken or not level, you are in danger of not being ADA compliant. This non-compliance can put you at risk for a lawsuit caused by “trip hazards,” which are defined by the ADA as any vertical change in a concrete joint or crack of over 1/4 inch or more. These types of lawsuits can be very costly. Fortunately, these types of “trip hazards,” are preventable with ADA compliant polyurethane foam concrete leveling.

Polyurethane foam concrete lifting is non-disruptive, Eco-friendly and sets within 15 minutes of installation. This means you can walk or drive on the repair service by th time we are leaving your property! Additionally, the foam lasts longer than other concrete repairing products, and prevents future damage. Not only does Polyurethane foam concrete lifting eliminate trip hazards, but it also offers peace of mind of knowing the safety of your property has been restored.
